Surabaya, January 21, 2025 - MOTE held a public lecture at Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Surabaya (Poltekpel Surabaya) today. The event was attended by 50 Pasis and 330 Cadets, Mr. Abdi Seno as Deputy Director II, and lecturers. This public lecture carries the theme “MOTE's role in the development of maritime education in Indonesia”, with the aim of providing in-depth insight into the latest technological developments that have an impact on efficiency, safety and sustainability in the maritime industry. The keynote speaker was the Director of PT Patriot Teknologi Maritim, Capt. Bona R Damanik who has extensive experience in shipping and DP-based vessel operations. In his presentation, Capt. Bona R Damanik explained how DP technology plays an important role in supporting various offshore operations. “The readiness of maritime human resources who understand this technology is crucial to answer global challenges in the maritime sector,” said Capt. In addition, participants also received information on the training and certification programs offered by MOTE, including training programs for Dynamic Positioning as well as specialized training for manual handling of offshore vessels. These programs are designed to meet international standards and ensure graduates have industry-relevant competencies. The students of Poltekpel Surabaya seemed very enthusiastic in attending this public lecture. The event ended with an interactive question and answer session, where participants could discuss directly with Capt. Bona R Damanik about various aspects of DP technology and career opportunities in this sector. By organizing this public lecture, MOTE hopes to continue to collaborate with maritime education institutions such as Poltekpel Surabaya, and contribute to producing superior human resources in the field of shipping and maritime technology.
