NI Circullar No.02/2026 : Merger of NI DP Revalidation and Refresher Courses

Folowing in consultation with the DP Training and Executive Group (DPTEG), has agreed to merge the Revalidation and Refresher courses. Going forward, only one course will be required for the purpose of DP revalidation. This course will now be known as the NI DP Revalidation Course.

Effective March 1, 2026, The Nautical Institute will consolidate DP revalidation requirements into a single course to streamline the process for Dynamic Positioning Operators (DPOs). Full details regarding this change will be available in the updated Certification Standard Volume 1, which is scheduled for release on February 20, 2026

Training Center Requirements

  • Immediately update all course materials, administrative documentation, and marketing assets. All references to the "DP Refresher and Competency" course must be removed and replaced solely with NI DP Revalidation Course.
  • Ensure TestReach accounts are updated; the exam for the "DP Refresher and Competency" course will be removed, leaving only the standard Revalidation exam available.
  • Verify candidate eligibility for repeat revalidation. Candidates who have previously revalidated their DP certificate by completing a Revalidation course may only undertake the course for a second or subsequent time if they have recorded a minimum of 28 days of DP sea time. (All sea time must be gained while the DP certificate remains valid.)
